Buying a ring online can feel daunting — I get it. With so many variables to consider, from which finger you’ll wear it on (yes, even left vs. right hand can make a difference!) to the width of the ring shank, it’s no wonder people hesitate.
But here’s the good news: it’s not as tricky as it seems. Whether you’re treating yourself or planning a surprise for someone special, I’ve got a few easy ways to help you find the perfect size — no stress, no guesswork.
✨ The Best Option: Try It On in Person
If you’re thinking of buying a ring from Original Strands, you’re welcome to visit me at Studio 9, Marlay Park Craft Courtyard, Rathfarnham, D16V248.
You can try on any of my handmade sterling silver rings, and I’ll help guide you to the right fit. Most designs can be custom-made to your size — just drop me an email to chat about your preferences.
📦 Can’t Visit? Here Are 3 Easy Alternatives:
1. Order a Ring Sizer (€5)
You can purchase one of our handy little ring sizers from Original Strands, and I’ll pop it in the post to you.
Even better — if you go on to buy a ring from the website, the €5 will be deducted from your order.
(See image 1 for what it looks like!)
2. Visit a Local Jeweller
Pop into a jewellery shop near you and ask them to size your finger.
Tip: Try on a ring with a similar width to the one you’re planning to buy — wider bands can feel tighter, so it’s good to match the style.
3. Planning a Surprise?
If you’re buying a ring secretly for someone you love, there are clever ways to work out their size.
My favourite method is using the ring sizer tool available to download from my website.
Just print it on an A4 sheet, borrow one of their rings (shhh!), and measure the diameter using the tool.
Tip: If the ring you measure is narrow and you’re ordering a wider band, go up half a size to ensure comfort.
