“Curiosity about life in all aspects, I think, is still the secret of great creative people.” Leo Burnett
I’ve always loved making things with my hands. I worked in mental health but making jewellery was always my secret passion ! I collected natural gemstone beads and loved putting different shapes and colours together to create unusual combinations, sourcing my beads from Europe and beyond. In 2009 I began to sell my jewellery under the name “Original Strands”.
Gradually I began to incorporate more silver in my designs and found myself wanting to develop a signature style that included precious metals. So, in 2016, when my children flew the nest I trained as a goldsmith, so that I could focus on designing and making jewellery full time in my studio in Dublin.
My inspiration: Originally a psychotherapist, I am interested in conscious and unconscious desire and I like to create jewellery that invites curiosity. My attention is focused on how we can be drawn to the unexpected and the jewellery that has emerged is bold, structural and asymmetric, inspired by the angles in our urban environment and the curves in nature.
A part of my week is set aside to experiment with design and form. I love nothing more than meeting my customers both in person and online and discussing commissions. I have been delighted to make personalised weddings rings for some very special clients.
Philosophy: It is important to me to create a brand that is sustainable and ethical. My materials are obtained from reputable dealers and I aim to use only ethically sourced materials and recycled packaging.
Invitation: I invite you to browse my shop, leaving traditional expectations at the door, and see which of the pieces you are drawn to, either for yourself or as a gift for a special person in your life. You may be surprised!
